“Burnt peach,” said one. “Butternut squash,” chimed another. “Definitely Bahamas pink beach,” a voice cried out from the back. “No it’s atomic coral,” insisted someone gulping determinedly from her glass of Leduc.

What the hell is atomic coral I pondered quietly to myself while the debate raged on over the colour of my new golf sweater?

Waterproof, windproof and breathable with a soft fleece lining which maintains roasty-toasty temperatures without overheating. The shaped jacket also features adjustable plastic velcro cuffs complete with a headphone loop on the back neck.

The Jersey Marl ‘skinny’ trousers are smart, comfortable and warm. They offer a stretch effect for easy movement but more fittingly produce a slim leg look. Both items work well together, offering a superb fit and excellent protection from out of season conditions.

Completing the ensemble, the debated luxury Beaumont golf sweater made from 100% pima cotton. Funky, distinctive and like Poulter himself, my new “crushed salmon” sweater remains much talked about.
